Same here...

I just did it on my 2000 A6 2.7T and came inside to complement Boston Driver...read your post and sure enough, the audio controls on the steering wheel no longer function...any recommendations for an alternate location?

Curious...my steering wheel audio controls still work...let me check the Bentley.

My steering wheel audio controls still work...

even after removing the fog rewire. Both position 27 and 36 are empty, and the audio buttons on the steering wheel still work. Let me look around a bit.

Here are a few thoughts for now: Maybe because MY2000 vs. MY2001? However, Richard SOlomon's original Tech Article covered his mod for MY2000.

Another could be that I have the multifunction steering wheel as part of the Premium Package (which also included the Xenons and auto dimming mirrors). The multifunction steering wheel includes three buttons on each side of the steering wheel: the "R/T" button on the lower left, and the little phone on the lower right. Could that be the difference?

Strange....

Believe it or not, I'm gonna live without the wheel controls for a few days...I really like the look with the fogs on without the headlamps. I plan on changing my fog bulbs tomorrow to PIAA's. Thanks for the help. I'd definitely be interested on any advise on an alternative sacrifice to the steering wheel controls... i.e. cig. lighter?

Okay, after looking at the Bentley...

I am even more confused. The wiring diagrams for the multifunction steering wheel appear to be identical, so I am not sure why your audio controls would be affected by this mod.

I will admit that I am not an expert on wiring diagrams (I am not a technician nor an electrician), but I do not see any differences.
