squeaky back seat finally solved
I have had the "squeaky folding back seat" issue for the past 6 years, and adjusting or wrapping with tape the locking trigger and pin did not solve it.
My squeak seemed to be mostly from the right, back, folding seat back. When I folded down seat back, squeak would go away. Squeak was/is most noticeable in cold weather.
In the process of R&R of rear shelf/trim (thanks to great instructions on BostonDriver's trim removal as part of his automatic sun shade retrofit tech resource!) to replace the Parktronic (Parking Aid) buzzer, I discovered it was actually the plastic hinge insert that was causing the seat back squeak during cold weather. I applied a little lithium grease on the hinge pin, put seat back in, and squeak is now gone.
I STFA for solutions a while back, but did not see that some folks had fixed the squeak by lubing the hinge pin (until I searched more thoroughly after the fact).
It's easy to remove the folding seat backs, after you remove the plastic cover between seats and the little locking cover that holds the seats in a craddle. Glad the annoying squeak is gone!
really, really helped since the repair/shop manuals seems to split that job over 5+ different sections.
I remember the days where squeaks & creaks drove me nuts... now with kids/carseats/random crap in the back, i don't think i could hear my backseat squeak if wanted to.
