Stalling, what does it do?
My S6 is an auto, so that too is reluctant, but i digress.....
When you stall a motor, its similar to stopping it, but faster. Like anything that creates a whip-like effect, many of the parts see "jerk, which is the 1st derivative of acceleration. That common term is actually a technical term, from the railroad industry.
I dont think its a biggie, aside from the momentary abuse of the clutch. And, by definition, a clutch can only war when it slips (although jerk, like in a missed shift on a racetrack (not me!) can literally pull the facing off the rivets - ask me how i know).
All that rotating stuff comes to a stop rather quickly. Fast decel. Then it rocks the bump stops, motor mounts, etc, etc. And the gears sorta bang together. But again, nothing is moving relative to each other so likely no big deal. not that i'd make it a regular event.
Learn to drive! And, actually, ask why its stalling.....
Grant
i know why its stalling, 12 hour days with 5 hours of sleep are taking their toll!
i only asked as i had a friend with me one time it happened and he slammed me saying that you can cause scoring of the engine because the oil pump stops and the parts are moving slightly, he also said it wears out the gear teeth... then again this is also a guy i got into a two hour argument with in college over who was better: man vs wild or surviorman (the answer should be obvious) so he could have just been being an *** about it
car was not happy starting up after that, but it beats getting in a wreck.
