Sudden missing and cel I checked the archives

So I was driving around today, did some shopping, normal stuff. No highway stuff, just 20 to 40 mph.
It's 94 degrees here today.
I came home and shut the car of, went back out to leave again and about 1 mile from home the car started missing very badly, cel was flashing and I got a whiff of sulfer in the cabin. I shut the car off and let it sit for a few, started it back up and limped back home, just 1 mile. Started searching the archives here. I have no vag-com so I have no more to offer at this point.

The car is a 2003 a6 2.7t with 96k

Coil pack?

flashing CEL means misfire... this thread is pointless with out vagcom information, were not car-psychics ...... return when you have a vag com, access t one, or at least the codes scanned at your local auto parts store.

More than likely a bad coil pack. About $30-40. Scan will tell you what coil is bad. Or you can swap it trial and error method until you figure out what one is bad. Or you can have two bad ones and chase your tail and never figure it out. In the mean time, while you are running your car, you are destroying the cat converter pumping unburned fuel into it. So best bet is to scan it and replace the coil pack.
