Yeah, but @ 75k on a 2000 C5, you're due for a timing belt service, if it hasn't been completed already.

Then after that you gotta prepare for the suspension issues (control arms bushings, shocks, tie-rods etc).

How, exactly, does one get a near 10% bump from a chip in a normally aspirated motor?

Its just not feasible, unless one runs things at the very edge of tolerences - which affects something - durability, fuel consumption, oil dilution, detonation, etc.

BS.

If i'm wrong, please provide details. Else consider this myth busted.

absolutely spot on. Forced induction will make a big change. Chips traditionally play with the large margin of error built into forced induction cars.

Of course, you can also raise the RPMs dramatically - but this doesn;t, and can't. The motor won't take sustained higher revs.
