Default weird issues

car sat for a month as i was using an old lexus for commute, moon roof opens but when i close it, it gets to the end then just opens back up. right front windows opens all the way but when i go to close it it gets about 3/4 of the way up, slows down, and then stops about 2 inches from the top. are these two the same problem or are they specific issues on each one?

also, the driver side AC is crap but the passenger side AC is AWESOME, do i have a broken evap unit? :/

On the AC, you have a leak. Probably the evap; that's generally where they leak.

How's the battery?

Withthe window, you likely have a broken window clip. Not hard to replace but time-consuming.

Try helping the side that's struggling to with your hands. Or when the window slows down, stop it with the flick of the switch, roll it down briefly (no more than half an inch), then roll up again. May have to do this a few times in order to close it.

Basically, when one clip breaks, that side is dragging and creates resistance for the motor. Hence it slows down. When the resistance gets too high, the window will roll down. Pinch protection.

OK side window sounds like thats the problem (although it rolls down fine and up fine to a point). what would explain the moon roof?

as far as the AC leak, why would an AC leak result in the driver side to be room temp and the passenger side to be cold, wouldnt both be cold.

It has to do with the way the refrigerant flows through the core - right to left. Right side gets cooled first. As the refrigerant leaks out, driver's side warms up first.

Have it charged and checked for leaks. If no leaks are found, expect to change the evaporator in a year or two.

Can I replace just the Evap core or do I need to replace the entire expensive unit?

They used a few different cores in the C5, so it will likely depend on VIN. But the cost isn't really the driver, it's the labor that sucks. If you can charge it once a year and make it through the season, that's the cheaper option.

I would just charge it up with a leak-plugging refrigerant with R134A+. Unless it's leaking out in several weeks if you can recharge it for the summer just do it. Costs a BUNDLE to R&R the evaporator.

One other possibility is a flapper vacuum motor is toast and is stopping the driver side from getting AC air.

Our 2K4.2A6 went through several iterations of suck/recharge good for a year each until I just started recharging it every spring. After a couple years it now holds charge for about two years....still cold.

I thought refrigerant with stop leak was bad for the ac. Labor will be done by me I just thought the Evap was like 2000. I'm considering selling as I just don't drive the car anymore. If anyone is interested in a 6spd with sports package.

The part is about $130... But do you know what it takes to replace it? Disassembling the entire front interior of your car. The whole dash has to come out.
