wont boost past 10 psi, way down on power please help!!

Default wont boost past 10 psi, way down on power please help!!

I have a 2000 a6 2.7t 6speed with giac software, straight pipe exhaust, and a dar-intake, and lately my car is way down on power and wont boost past 10 psi(usually at 16-17). I took it too my mechanic he had it for 2 days and coulnt find anything wong with it, there are no cels, he couldnt find any boost leaks, or anything. what should i do?? should i take it to a dealership?

Welcome to the great world of pulling hair out of yer skull!

Its even better when you think the last hose that could possibly have a tear is the driver side pressure hose off the turbo, and you spend a day trying to get it out of the wheel well only to find it had no tears....And your car still sits in the garage cause you couldn't get the new silicone hose back on. Because the Chinese manufacturer decided to make the hose a mm or so to small.

It sure is! I've tried everything...When it was still off the turbo I slid the hose on, now that its attached to the turbo, I can't slide the metal on to the hose. Today I even tried KY Jelly! Piece of absolute ****!

Have you tried vacuum testing? DV's good? Wastegate's good?

Your car sounds exactly like mine. No codes and down on boost. Great feeling isn't it? 0_o

I had the same problem. running OC.T stage 1 chip...was totally consistant for 2 years then started experiencing boot capping out at 9-10psi and lower power output. no CEL but VAG-Com saw intermittent misfires and knock sensor codes on 3 cylinders. I reset all the codes, changed spark plugs and added some octane booster. no improvements. took the car to replace all 6 coil packs under a recall ...still no change. Then added the octane booster and WHOA...back to the old stage 1 (~16psi on this chip).

you need to run logs with vag-com and see whats going on, look at egts,timing,02,airflow. hell even a maf on its way out could cause this. i had a bad maf but had no maf codes and only a intermitent system too lean that everyone SWORE was a boost leak. bottom line is these cars are complex and you need to log a lot of data to be able to diagnose the issue. do a couple runs logging those values and let us know. SOMETHING is not right, we just have to find it

I too get intermittent misfires, in I believe cylinder 3. Did plugs a couple months ago. The strangest part is how you can just feel the power plateau. You're use to the G's it makes when hitting max boost...So when it drops off a couple psi you can just tell when it stops pulling...No matter how crazy friends and family may think you are!

Omg so I'm not crazy!! I felt the power plateau too!! Thanks for that I'll check if it's misfiring asap!!

if you are misfiring check the spark plugs first, a broken electrode can cause a lot of headache people miss attribute to coil packs
