Default 2006 A6 Avant Center Brake Light

Anyone have the part number and removal instructions for the high mounted rear stop lights?

4F9-945-097 $52.50 IN STOCK! I don't have any experience changing them out but I am sure someone here (audiworld) has good instructions.

From what I remember, it was accessible when I was installing my Nav.. the c-pillar trim needs to come off. This was some time ago, so I could be wrong.

On the Avant, you'll need to remove the trim from inside the lift gate. Once all that is removed, you can now see the High-mounted stop light assembly from inside the lift gate. The black plastic(retainer) is what holds the assembly, and you'll need to slide the plastic towards the left This will disengage the retainer from the unit. You'll need to jiggle the unit loose as the clips need to come off the unit before it can be pulled out.

Reassembly requires the clips and retainer to be reinstalled while the unit is outside. The unit just pops in after.

Mine loses connection regularly and I have to clean out the plug and reinstall... which works for about 2 weeks, then I need to do it again. I'm a pro at removing that thing now. I may just solder the connection solid if it keeps acting up.

Try using Dielectric grease.

I replaced my stop light assembly two weeks ago, and knock on wood, I haven't gotten the error code.

Did it come with new clips and the plastic sliding portion?
