Engine Stop Button/Locking Beep
Coming up to my final warranty visit (45K service) and I had a couple quick questions. The lettering is worn off my engine stop button due to the rough start after sitting 30 minutes issue that others have had. I have to do the start process twice and it's wearing out my buttons. I've giving up trying to get the issue fixed (good old can't duplicate even though it happens 10 times a week). Anyway, is the worn engine stop button a warranty item? Also, the car stopped "beeping" when I hit the lock button. I assume that is covered right?

I was able to get my dealer to duplicate my troubled start issue by being very explicit in the conditions that make it happen (car warms up after being driven for 30 minutes and has to sit for ~2hrs). I just got the car back yesterday, and haven't had the chance yet to try to duplicate the conditions again to test to see if their fix worked (they replaced the injectors, which were reportedly "leaky"), but I'm hopeful it fixed the problem. I really want that headache to be over.
They might use the "normal wear and tear" card on your worn stop button. Luckily, I think it's a pretty cheap part if you have to replace it yourself in the future.
Unless something is actually broken, the cause of your car not beeping is probably a door or your trunk being ajar. The original trunk latch on these cars is faulty and refuses to latch when the temperatures get really cold. Maybe your trunk lid is ajar?

So far, so good...
The car's been starting fine, whether cold, warm, or somewhere in between -- even after sitting off for about an hour after driving it for 30 minutes before-hand (previously it would've died; man was I glad it didn't).
I've noticed it cranks longer now, but once it starts it starts fine, so whatever.

I has the paint wearing off the right rear window lift button on the driver's door (which I rarely use). It was a small white spot but really visible with all the black around it. At my 35k service I showed it to the service writer. When I got back the button had been replaced under warranty. No hassle,so I would guess yours is covered under warranty too.
