HELP: C6 GRILLE RETROFIT
Since Christmas is around the corner, I want to give my dad something for his 2005 A6 C6 4.2. He's been hinting that he wants a front grille retrofit from either a C6 S6 or RS6. Also, he really likes the grille on a 2011 A6 S-Line. I guess it doesn't have the license plate filler like his current grille and it is mostly black in color (I am not sure if 2011 is still considered a C6 or a C7?)? I'd like to know if any of these grilles are compatible for his C6. Of course, the dealership isn't offering much help with this. I had gone through the same scenario with the lower grille from a C5 S6 grille to fit my C5 4.2 (they told me it wouldn't fit but it fits perfectly). I have found some links that offer some information about this matter but I'd like to get some reassurance (possibly some current photos?) before I start buying stuff. I am more of a C5 guy at the moment so I haven't really studied the possibilities for the C6. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just switched out the grill on my 2006 c6 with the s-line from a 2008, it fit perfectly. I believe your father is looking for the 1 piece grill starting in 2009, it will be a direct fit emt as long as it came from a c6 car. Look for 2009-2011. After you find the grill brace yourself for about 2 hours of work changing it out since the front bumper needs to be disconnected/removed.

Not sure if it was available in 2005 but be sure he does not have adaptive cruise control. If he does then finding the part is a little harder and may be more expensive. The sensor is located on the center just below the license plate. Its a flat 4"x4" plastic cover.

Put the RS6 grill on my S6 a few months ago. Wife didnt understand the $500 price tag, however just last night as we were getting into car after dinner she stopped at front of car and said "that grill really does look nice!"......Will miracles never cease? Now on to that new S-line steering wheel!

I got an RS6 Grille for my C6 two summers ago and I love it. It is a direct and perfect fit, same as the S6 one. The headlight washers gave me a little headache for some reason but nothing major. @Korndog, I went through the exact same thing with the wife. Before install she said, "you spent 5 bills on what again?” After install she said, "5 bills is too much for a Grille but Damn do I love how the C6 looks now". I also did custom honeycomb lower side Grilles to match.
