Default How long should front brakes last????

Just went thru another set of front brakes.

This set lasted approx. 22,000kms.

I have a 2008 S6 and could be classified as an aggressive driver.

What is everyone else's experience.

You don't get something for nothing.
The harder you use the brakes the sooner they want replaceing.
I have just changed my pads all round at 34,000 miles, (they were only half worn out), I changed to ceramics for less dust.
I tend to use the paddles to slow me down, not the brakes if I can help it.

You got a big motor up front, so the brake bias is even greater at the front.

Add that to some spirited driving and your pads take more of beating (tires too).

As recommended above, engine braking on a quattro puts motor compression to work on all 4 wheels and will help with the pad wear a bit.

My rear pads always go quicker than the fronts but this is probably due to the difference in thickness between the rears and fronts. My best guess would be 20-30k for fronts and 15-20 for rears. All depends on the pads rotors and driving style.

I'm already past 50k since I replaced the fronts and I think I'm only halfway down in pad thickness.

With my driving style/routes, I got about 24K miles with OEM pads. I changed to Akebono ceramics and even after 30K miles, I still have more than 50% left.

Loved the Akebonos on my last Euro ride (Volvo 850 T5) for the low dust, good pedal feel and strong consistent performance.

Not sure why when driving around town people down shift. Brakes are cheap engines/tranny's are expensive. Use the cheaper parts for braking..
