Use of Battery Connectors in Hood

Use of Battery Connectors in Hood
Hi. I have a mouse or mice that keep getting into my 2012 A6 engine. So I bought an under the hood electronic mouse noise emitter thingy. Connect to battery and tie down with ties in engine. Problem is (and I was unaware) is battery is in trunk. So I tried to connect the device to the positive and negative connectors that are in the hood (manual says it for jumping and charging). But the device would not power up (tried starting car, made sure all connectors connected, made sure turned on, etc.).
Will those connectors (esp. the positive) power up a device like the mouse thing, or does it need to be connected directly to the battery?
Thanks!

It's just a straight line to the battery, so seems to me something else is off. You're sure the thing isn't just working? It's not going to be a sound we can hear of course.

Well, the male prongs on the device we not fitting into plug when I first set up, so I had to bend those down a bit to allow plug to snap into prongs, but I don't think that broke the device.
In meantime, I had sent an email to support of the device asking them if the connectors should work and they responded thusly:
"It is not recommended to connect the cabled version rodent repellent to the positive and negative connectors because their specifications may be different from the positive and negative posts of normal 12-volt batteries located in the engine compartment.
To repel rodents from a vehicle with the battery in the trunk, we recommend using the battery-operated version under hood animal repeller. You can buy it via this link: "
So, I may try one more time this morning to get this to work, but seems MFG is saying might not work I guess and looks like I will go with battery operated one. Damn Mice. I keep telling my tabby cat to get them, but to no avail.
