Even when it doesn't rain, it is totally useless. You would have to keep an eye on it all the time to have any benefit. But it is a wonderful conversation piece.

Night vision would be totally useful in very populated countries with animals and total trogs crossing the road without looking (i.e. India / China). They also dont have very good lighting outside of the cities, and that would be especially handy.
Ever heard of a "One Eyed Jack" ? I have come across those in India - it seems like a motorcycle or scooter driving towards you and you think you have plenty of space - it turns out its a massive truck with one light missing. The Night Vision would possibly tell you that its a massive thing coming at you and not a small cycle/scooter/moto.

You're right I guess. Although I've yet to have an animal or peeps cross my path @ night to get at least a beep out of it! At this point it would probably scare the sh**t out of me if it did.
