Back up camera not working
I've found multiple threads about the back up camera flickering, but not much related to the A7 and it now working at all. When I bought the car I repaired the 2 wires on the back that always fail to get power back to the screen, but I didn't remove any other wires back there. I have a scanner that I can use, but I don't know if it's sufficiently in depth to help me.
Any ideas or threads I may have missed? I have read about bad camera, bad control module, bad harness, but none were on the A7. Thanks,
Jonny
I called Audi and they verified my car came with the KA2 option (rear camera.) So I checked in the trunk and the entire bracket for the Camera control module is not there, nor is the harness connecting to it. So why would someone remove this? It makes no sense.
Further research showed in 2012 due to the Tsunami a lot of Audi's were released for sale without the camera equipment installed, on the basis that they didn't want to hold up shipments just for this. I believe the theory was that when these parts came in, people would bring the car in to the dealership and have these few remaining parts installed. So possibly, this car that was supposed to come with a back up camera never actually had all of the equipment installed, and the first owner never went back to get it installed. This is what I have read, I am not saying this is true as it's from the
I have put a call in with Audi and they are telling me the car did come with it and it was installed in 11/2012. So basically I am no further along.
I did make the appointment, the parts were installed on November 28th, 2011 and the rear view camera system functioned flawlessly for as long as I owned the car.
I am certain that the cable harness and bracket was installed at the factory and they only had to add the camera unit.
The tsunami hit in March 2011 and the resulting parts shortage affected cars built from April to October. This would suggest that since the parts became available in October 2011, if your car was built in November 2011 it did have the option installed at the factory.

However, the service manager or the lead technician at an authorized Audi service center could look that up for you and print out the appropriate pages, if you ask (nicely).
