Not to be too dicky, but as a friendly note, if you are referring to your stereo's lower sound registers, the word is "bass" - pronounced like 'base', but not the opposite of an acid, but the opposite of treble.

Strange language this English. Rhymes with face but it is spelled like a type of fish.

McQueen - you have only scratched the surface of the horrible misuse of the English language. Here are the ones I see all the time, mostly in car forums.

Loose is used when they mean LOSE. If your head is loose, you will lose your mind!!
Breaks when they refer to the middle pedal - the BRAKE.
Peddle when they mean the pedal, like the brake PEDAL.

I could go on but I am sure many of you guys could add to the list.

Thanks! I used this word couple times and stared at it for a few seconds thinking "This doesn't look right" but just couldn't figure it out!

Reminds me of my Spanish teacher who said "Spanish is simple, it is pronounced just like it is spelled" or vice versa.

...and let's not forget how "wheel" has become " rim" in car talk. So I guess if you slam a pothole, you may have bent the "rim" of your "rim "
