My dealer after service told me that the battery failed test and recommended replacement. I bought a Everstart H8 AGM battery with 95 Ah and doing my research before replacement.
Based on almost all the threads I have gone through, the recommendation is to just increment on the of the digits in the serial# and that is all that is required. But the current serial number coded is reported by VCDS as a text string. No numbers at all. What is a good solution in this case?
Can I choose the manufacturer as Unknown(it is actually HAN as per the new battery serial) and use the serial number from the newly purchased battery instead?
Should I also change size to 95 Ah from the current value of 92 Ah?

When I changed the battery in my old A7 I did not re-code the battery and saw no ill effects from it.
As I understand, changing the serial number somehow makes the car know that the battery has changed and the charging system will adjust as if its a new battery. Smart charging system?

How long did you use the battery after replacing? Did it last the typical 7+ years?
Hi, I want to put a new battery in my 2015 A7 but I'm concerned it will trigger all kinds of electronic issues if I just disconnect old battery and reconnect new one, even if I do it swiftly. Do I need some kind of 'energy saver' device? Can I improvise with something (another battery?)
There are some that will say to hook up a charger to the posts under the hood but I can say that nothing adverse will happen if you don't. Had the battery disconnected for a prolonged time when I did my timing chains and it fired right up with no issues. No issues when I changed out the battery as well.
