Just spoke with my salesperson and she said they just last week received the first vehicles with the camera installed. They were delayed at the port for a couple of weeks while they were installed. She said the first vehicles to receive the cameras would be the 2011 cars, then the 2012. Audi is to send out letters sequentialy to owners informing them that they can have their cameras installed. The dealers aren't supposed to install any cameras without the letter. She was hoping that I could have mine installed by December. Bought the A7 8/16/11.

I just asked my dealer about the camera (Canadian car, got it July 21st). The answer was "Rear camera control modules have not been announced yet there will be a circular going around to customers when we know."

Camera Chip Update

Information from Audi indicates that the first wave of customers will receive invitations to make appointments on or about November 2, 2011. This wave will cover 2011-2012 A8 and Q7 vehicles.
Additionally, on or about November 2, 2011 all remaining impacted customers will receive a letter detailing that they will receive an invitation as soon as parts become available.
The second wave of customers will be notified in mid-November. This wave will cover 2011-2012 A6 and A7 vehicles.
The final wave of customers will be notified in December. This wave will cover 2011-2012 A4, A5 and Q5 vehicles.
