Default Cradle for iPhone

Hey guys,

I've got a 2012 A7 and the iPhone cable that came with it, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Audi Cradle on their A7's

I like how BMW has a similar cradle and the phone stays put in there, any idea if Audi still makes cradles for A7's?

If your A7 is a USA car, that won't work. They have no base plate for that to mount to. Actually, I don't think any A7 has a phone base plate connection.

There are a number of cradles available, but I truly question the need for an A7. These cradles were designed so you can see the display of the phone with the info about the call (like who is calling etc.), on older cars with basic Bluetooth interfaces. All that info (and more) displays on the A7 MMI screen, so there is no need to see the phone itself. Just plug the phone in, close the handrest door and operate the phone from the MMI interface without phisically touching it.

+1

This is exactly what I do. Works great, even for music playback.

Will texts and/or emails display on the MMI or at least an alert that you have received one? I'm in no way advocating texting or emailing while driving, rather just wondering if the MMI displays email or text notifications while the phone is connected to the MMI. This way, if it's important enough, I can pull over to respond or make a hands free call to respond instead. I have an iPhone 4 with AT&T service.

This would be a valid reason in my opinion to have the cradle, so important work texts or email notifications didn't go unnoticed while in the armrest.

Thanks.

No, it only displays phone information, not info through the data network like email, text (SMS) messages or webpages.
