Default Cupholder Problem

I hate these cupholders. They are way too big.

My espresso cups are never held tightly enough.

I can't stand that fact that I cannot put in any styrofoam cups in there, I have to avoid dunlin donuts, most fast food drinks, etc....

I wish Audi would offer us something to modify/ change them out ...

I incorrectly assumed that "onthebeam" was some reference to you being a gymnast - and now I find out that it's a reference to you driving and posting under the influence of Kentucky Bourbon.

Someone on the forum offered a solution to the issue. Although slightly crude, it definitely works and i have done it in my A7.

Take a large plastic drink cup (McD's works fine), and cut it off so that it fits flush with the top of the cup holder "hole". Push it down into the A7 cup holder and it wedges the spring loaded fingers back; you can easily slip any cup (styrofoam included) into the larger opening without it causing a problem. If you're neat in the cutting, it's hardly noticeable and works perfectly.

Admittedly, the cup you're using may slip around slightly, but it does stay in the holder. The cup you insert into the "hole" also provides some protection in the event of a spill - past experiences posted to the forum describing spills are pretty bad, if there is nothing to catch the liquid.

I was skeptical until I tried it - works just fine for me.

I would say that any firm round object could work. Use could use some black ABC pipe. Cut to right height. Sandpaper over the sharp cuts. It VERY firm and black. Cut and finished the right way (5 min work) it would be practically invisible.

Just print your way out of the problem... with a 3D printer. Create an insert.

Cup holder issue needs a more permanent solution...one perhaps that enables driver to have cupholder on Left side near vent...away from electronics.
Cupholders in middle console...passenger cupholder is small, drivers cupholder is smaller.
