Default Devastation: Audi Messed Up My A7 Order

So, after a several long years of waiting for the A7 to be launched and then several long months of waiting for the car I ordered to arrive, I am left devastated to learn that Audi messed up my order.

I ordered a Prestige in Daytona Gray with 20" sport package, the innovation package, B&O system, brushed aluminum inlays, and the Cartesia five arm alloys.

Today I learned from the dealer that while my vehicle has arrived at port, it does not have the 20" sport package. Either the dealer messed up putting it in the system or the sport package was later kicked out of the system. In any case, my car is not what I ordered.

My first clue was when the dealer called last week to ask what kind of summer tires I wanted to order for my Cartesia wheels. Some of you may have seen my post looking for advice on tires. Once I thought about it, I replied that the summer tires that come with the 20" sport package should be just fine for the 20" alloys.

So, what to do? I can still put 20" tires on the Cartesia wheels. I'm not terribly attached to the idea of the sport suspension after reading some reviews, although I'm interested in the opinions of you guys. Yet, and this may seem petty, I hate the four arm steering wheel. The three arm steering wheel cannot be swapped out. So, do I wait for my perfect car to be made (months more if I can even get Daytona Gray at this point due to Japan) or make due with no sport package?

Sport Package (especially the steering wheel) FTW! Take advantage of this mistake and order Daytona... I assume the dealer will make it up to you with a good incentive. 0.4" lowering on the sport suspension gives you the .90g lateral acceleration as tested... I have seen .86 without the sport package.

I ordered a grey interior with a manual transmission and got a black interior with an automatic transmission. The dealership did own up to it being their entry error (how hard could it be???). The black interior I now feel looks better and I did effectively get the auto transmission for free and it's proven to be more practical in congested driving, but still ....

I too didn't want to await a re-order, but no Sports pkg would have been the deal killer for me.

Wow, thats horrible. I would guess this was a dealer mistake.

Did they ever give you a copy of the order configuration from AccessAudi? Or give you the commission number? You can see what was ordered.

Also, as far as I know, you cannot order Daytona any more. It was removed from the order guide so no new orders can be submitted with that paint code until its available again.

I would be bummed about the steering wheel too. Not so much the suspension as I'm pretty sure we're putting a KW kit on my wife's car as soon as we get it.

Actually, Daytona Gray Pearl (code 6Y6Y) is back on the Order Guide with these limitations:

-Prestige model only
-Black interior only (code FZ)

What date is that revision?

The one I have from April says that (that's the first order guide I saw and it had those limitations).

The one I got in June had it removed along with Glacier White and Havanna Black.

IMHO. The loss of the sport is probably not a huge deal, especially since you have the sweet, sweet Daytona and the Cartesias (I still demand tons of pics). I may be in the minority here, but I think the 3 arm sport steering looks out of place with the more austere and debonair interior. I think the 4 arm does it right.

If you are the kind of guy that the small issue doesn't bother, then live with it and see. If you are a perfectionist, reorder. Maybe the dealership will switch with an identical car in a different color and let you move your wheels over.

Thanks all for feedback and thoughts. CharlieSlasher-I have a handwritten order, not a printout from the system, but the dealer owned up to the error so no controversy. B45-I will get you some pictures soon!

The "mistake" car arrived at the dealer today. Of course, I am out of town until late tomorrow. The plan is to test drive it and see how I feel about the lack of sport suspension. I am starting to come around on the four spoke steering wheel. I realized that part of the reason I did not like it in the photos I had seen was that most promo shots had been the nougat leather, which clashes with the black/gray plastic controls on the steering wheel. In black leather, it looks a lot better to me.

If I keep it, I will post pictures later this week. My wife checked it out at the dealer today and said it is stunning.
