Default Difference in PS through A7 years.

Hey everyone, about to go test drive an A7, looks like the perfect car for what I need right now. Just have one quick question about these cars I wasn't able to find an answer to, I know the S4 I was looking at previously had differences across the year ranges 2012-2014 in their power steering systems (hydraulic - electric), does the A7 have any difference across 2012 to 2014 years, software or equipment? This is the only thing ive seen about these cars that makes me slightly hesitant coming out of a modded IS-F with extremely tight steering. Looking for a prestige with sport package if that makes any difference. Thank you.

All the C7's have the electric steering rack. The early versions had a dead spot in the center that was corrected with a software update. Some say that the steering is light. I don't have any problem with it.

I came very close to buying a IS-F before I realized that the Audi was a better choice for where I live. I still have a JoeZ intake and Tein lowering springs in the garage somewhere. I should go back to ClubLexus to see if anyone would be interested in them.

ISFs a great car but I need something more long road trip-friendly with a 75 lb dog, and I'm a bit sick of the downright terrible ride quality. Will still be hard to live without the straight piped 5.0 noise and performance, but the A7 looks like an amazing car. I'm assuming this software update can be applied to 2012 A7s?

Not all 2012's had the steering problem and those that did, were updated. I would recommend shying away from the 2012's. They have no warranty so you can't get small stuff corrected and the MMI is the earliest version.

The AWE touring exhaust sounds good with the supercharged V6 and the ECU can be tuned. No need for nitrous to get extra HP.

I'm seeing some 12s listed as certified, I was under Impression the warranty on those could be extended to 100k miles, thanks for the help here.

I still own my '12 which I ordered just a few months after they came on the market. The steering is a bit on the light side, but my point of reference is sport cars dating back to my first MG. No real issues in 5+ years / 50k+ miles.

I think less items are covered under certification. If you're shopping for CPO's, have the dealer update the MMI hardware and software so you can use your phone after 2020. Make it part of the negotiations.

Read a lot about first year issues on the 2012s, narrowed my search to a 2013 prestige with sport pack at this point, thanks for the input everyone.
