First speeding ticket in my A7
The police cited me for doing 37 mph on a 25 mph street.
COME ON, NOW!
Look, I'm not making excuses, and I know the police have their jobs to do, their quotas to fill, and let's face it, I probably was going 37 mph, though I didn't see any 25 MPH signs (ignorance is no excuse).
But it's not like I was intentionally gunning it or driving at an unsafe speed or manner.
This car is deceptively fast at highway speeds -- been surprised once or twice to look down and see myself nearing 80 when it feels like I'm still at 65. This car probably idles forward at over 10 MPH.
I guess I should have known that driving this kind of car is going to make me a target. Still, I feel that the $150 I now have to add to the county's coffers at such a ticky-tacky mph rate is a little unfair. That's the way the cookie crumbles.
Anybody else have similar stories, whether you were purposefully driving fast or not, or about noticing that you are more of a target for over-zealous cops?

37 in a 25 isn't too bad but people may have been complaining about others that go faster than that.

Also I keep a lookout for those painted lines on the road that the police use to time you over that distance. The local cops love to hide and time you for ticket revenue for the towns which are all needing cash.
Meanwhile I have an S5 that in just three years has snagged two speeding tickets, one of which was quite nasty. Haven't had a speeding ticket in more than 15 years prior to those. This car just begs for such things. It's like that bad boy your mother warned you not to play with.
But I can't help it. The car us sheer fun!

I have an old Escort 8500 detector that still works great. It has saved me countless times over 15 years and has probably paid for itself 50 times over (not to mention the thousands of dollars saved in insurance premiums). The newer versions today are even better. Knock on wood, I haven't received a speeding ticket in 10 years (got one from a unmarked cruiser following me when I wasn't paying attention - no radar involved).
Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
In all my years of driving, I've found that cops normally don't bother if you are exceeding the limit by 10 MPH or less.
Problem is, all my years of driving have been in standard, crappy-looking Japanese intermediate sedans. Not a sleek, slick, angry-looking A7.
I suspect that cops are more apt to tag an A7 that's just 10 mph over the limit then they would be a beat up old Toyota Camry going the same speed.
