Fuel issues
I have a 2014 A7 TDI that had a glowplug light warning light come on then a check engine light shortly after. I took it to AutoZone and got the codes read to see what the underlying issue was and it read bad fuel rail. Looking forward to taking advantage of the dieselgate extended warranty, I took it to an Audi dealership. They are claiming it is bad Diesel that is the underlying issue and will not be covered by warranty. Instead that want $667 to remove all the diesel and see what happens from there after putting in fresh diesel. The diesel was bought from a racetrack gas station, station that is very busy with probably around 40 pumps. It seems to me like this is a very rare issue and is an easy cop out answer for Audi to blame it on. The diesel was purchased on July 20th, driven around 10 miles. Parked for 4 days, then driven 24 miles, parked overnight, then the next morning the warning lights came on. Since then it's been driven another 50 miles with no change other than a low to choking start-up idle when cold.
Not sure how to proceed, I am thinking if I let the dealer drain the diesel then I have no proof that the diesel was the issue and neither the gas station could be held responsible or the dealership of that was not the initial cause. Could be that the diesel is not bad and Audi just doesn't know what's wrong? Looking for advise and if this is a do it yourself kind of job I'm all ears too!
