Help needed for this newbie
Hi everyone, I recently purchased a 2012 A7 3.0 TDI sportback 80k miles and had a few issues, unfortunately just after the warranty expired, seal on the gearbox went and the clutch piston which has been sorted now but took it in for a full service to be told by the mechanics that they can hear the timing chain is out when the car revs at around 2500 rpm, if it goes its catastrophic i'm told. They say its around £2500 to replace now or I can leave it and it may be fine but they think its stretched.
As you can probably tell i'm not that mechanical, know a lot about dirt bikes but when it comes to cars not so much. Are they having me on or can you actually hear when the timing chain is out, I've listened and cant hear anything....
