Hit your settings button while in Mdeia mode and make sure Random Tracks is selected. When you go back to your list of songs they may still be alphabetized or whatever but start playing whatever song is listed and then you should see the list go to random. This setting goes away if you remove the iPod from the car and then reinsert it later. Good luck!
