MMI issue 2018 A7 80k on clock

I've had the car for three years~ 13k miles. All started with the Android Auto (AA) working sporadically. I swapped out the USB cable and thought it had resolved the issue. Recently AA occasionally works.

I've reset the MMI multiple times with the four finger. Results vary from AA working to not working at all. Also having issues with initializing the media interface. I have two cards with a bunch of music. Just for ***** and giggles I disconnected the battery (which is two years old) for an hour. No joy.

I know I need to check the software version but this feels more like a hardware issue to me. Edit version MHI2_US_AU57X_P3327

Are there any connections that are subject to water intrusion? Car is garaged or under cover 95% but we do get crazy rain storms in FL

Anyone else have a similar experience?

There is a multitude of cable connectors in any car. Disconnect and reconnect each connector you can reach multiple times to remove possible oxidation.

So, I researched upgrading the MMI version and was ready to do so. For ***** and giggles I order some new USB A to USB C cables AND that was the issue.

I must have had two bad cables in a row and got lucky here.
