Default MPG London

Hi Guys,

I just bought a A7 3.0 TDI Quattro 245 and my MPG are not close to the ones that Audi claim even on efficiency mode!
Is anyone getting anything closer to the Audi Consumption specs?

Mpg urban = 39.2 mpg
Mpg extra urban= 54.3 mpg
Mpg combined= 47.9 mpg

Thanks
Sergio

Once you get out of grid-locked London, I think you'll see much higher fuel economy. These newest diesels are very clean and that comes at a cost: fuel economy in the city

I believe your lump is similar to the one sold in the USA. We don't get the choices of engines you do.

I like to review this website for real world fuel economy from users:

http://www.fuelly.com

There are users from around the globe and it's somewhat difficult to identify which TDI they've got under the bonnet. However, you'll get a general idea of what people are reporting.

Try getting up-to-speed quicker and then coast to the red lights. I know, that's probably more easier said than done, especially in London. You'll burn less fuel if you manage to coast for longer periods, so avoid the slow and lazy starts. Also, use the auto start/stop in the traffic to reduce idle time.

I have been driving a 3.0 TDI, 204 HP, but with a plug in Chip and I get about 42MPG on average. From a tank of fuel I think I use about 75% of motorway driving, and the rest town. I generally don't think about how I drive and try to save fuel.

Without the plug in chip, I use to get about 37MPG.

If I watched how I drive and stick to good driving techniques (especially seen when my wife drives as she doesn't accelerate quickly) I could get about 46MPG.

Hope this helps
