Hey everyone I just purchased a 2012 A7. This is my first experience with an Audi and I hope it is a good one. I have a question. Is there anyway to make the MMI screen say up all the time even when you turn the car off. I don’t want to permanently disable it I just wondered if there was a setting you could change to accomplish this. Thanks and I look forward to being a part of this forum.

Welcome from a fellow new owner! Picked up my 2016 A7 TDI Prestige last week.

Had the same thought regarding the MMI screen, seems logical that the opening and closing would be something that could be programmed.

With the car off you can push the volume button and it will raise the MMI screen temporarily. Unless the volume is adjusted or one of the MMI buttons on the center console are pressed within ~10 minutes the screen will automatically retract. I'm not aware of anything that will permanently raise the MMI screen.

There is no programming to do that.

However, it is a mechanical unit, there is a motor with gears that raises/lowers the screen. You could just disconnect the drive mechanism and fix the screen in the raised position. The electronics will still move the motor to close it, but the screen will stay out as you wanted.
