Default Recent MMI and Steering updates

At 8800mi

Car serviced at the dealer yesterday to address the following:

1. Steering felt like it was constantly wandering, espescially at highway speeds (with all Drive Select settings and both OEM 19" AS and OEM 20" Summer)
2. MMI intermittant freeze, HD radio quality (was really looking to get the update to hear if Bose issues were addressed)
3. Front center and front door speaker rattle

Fixes:
1. The power steering sw update was applied. The TSB for this update only states that it address a premature error condition. But I did notice less wander (less vague on center) after the update.. Not sure if it's a placebo affect. But, still somewhat noticible at higher speeds. 2nd time I've had the car in the shop for this issue. 2nd time they've told me that my inflations were too low. I pointed out that I run the "normal load" pressures according to the manual. They reccomended staying with the pressures on the door label. Not sure I'm buying it. Also...alignment within spec. The tech did notice the wander and dealer filed an inquiry with Audi tech support. Interested if others are experiencing this as well.

2. Most recent MMI update applied. I'm pleasantly surprised by the improvement in the Bose sound. Naturally, as highlighted in other threads, this is a subjective area. I'm not sure what the official documented changes are in this update. But, being a musician, I can honestly say the bass is much more refined / contained within a tighter frequency range. Sub is more prominent. Seems to be more mid range as well. Still wish there was more headroom at high volume. Although, not a 100% improvement, for me it makes the Bose system more "liveable"

3. Having traded from a D3 A8 with 115k mi and never a rattle....the speaker buzz drove me nuts. The tech did a great job of referencing the TSB on the rattles, and isolated according to the reccomended Audi fixes....tightening the fasteners holding center speakers, removing door panels and wrapping cabling in friction tape. Rattles gone.

BTW,...I always find my dealer service team very willing to work with me. It's what's kept me in the Audi family.

What are the new versions of the software that you received? Also, along with the update did you also get the "Google Street View" feature?

Thank you!

The mmi update is : HN+_US_AU_P0487. The current Nav version is: 8R0060884AD NAR 5.5.5. I'm not sure what the current steering update version is. Your dealer will have the details as I believe the updates are Audi required.

After a few days with the update, I can definately state that the Bose sound is improved. Better imaging, better defined bass and mids.

Well that is the latest for 2012s because the 2013s (at least the A6) are getting a 0566 version that enables street view in google maps, unless the hardware is different (which I really doubt it) we are not getting the latest latest.

Not sure. I'd contact your dealer for the latest. This is the update I received last week which addressed some audio quality issues.

Are there separate updates for the steering an for the audio? Is it all lumped together in one update?

Yes, the updates are separate for steering and MMI. Your Audi dealer will have the necessary information as I believe the updates are documented in recent TSB's.
