Default Service Position (C7 Platform)

Does anyone have any information on putting the A7 (C7 platform) in service position? I am replacing my Crankshaft Pulley and need a couple more inches of room which requires putting the car into service position. I've searched all over this forum and the web and I can't seem to find a write-up on the A7 (C7 platform). Or even the A6 (C7 platform) which I would assume has a similar procedure. There are plenty of write-ups on the A4 (B8) which has the same 3.0 TFSI engine but very different front end. I even purchased a set of lock carrier pins (3369) which use an M8-1.00 bolt. When I removed the bumper cover and removed one of the three bolts that connect the radiator support I noticed that the bolt is not a M8-1.0 but much thicker, likely an M10 bolt. So back to my initial question. Does anyone know what lock carrier pins to use for the A7 and does anyone have any write-ups on putting this car in service position?

So I figured it out. It was not as difficult as I thought. Once you remove the bumper cover, there are three T30 bolts on each side that need to be removed. One on the top of the radiator and two that connect the headlight. I didn't realize that the headlights are connected to the radiator (lock carrier?) and slide forward with it. For the lock carrier pins, I found that they are M10-1.50 bolts which I found two at Lowes. You simply remove one of the three bolts and insert the M10 bolt, then remove the remaining two. I bought the longest length they came in which was 110mm. I probably only used about 70mm though so if you can't find long enough bolts, about 70-80mm length will do.

As for the crankshaft pulley, I was able to replace it along with the auxiliary belt. I had replaced the aux belt tensioner, supercharger tensioner and supercharger belt previously but the crankshaft pulley still had a slight wobble. I just took it on a long drive and happy to report, the belts are tight and the crankshaft pulley doesn't wobble as it did before. As I loosened the the eight crankshaft pulley bolts, I ensured that they were tight and ruled this out as a cause for the crankshaft pulley wobble.

Prior to this I had replaced the water pump (which was leaking coolant) and while I was at it I replaced the PCV Valve, Thermostat and Spark Plugs and did carbon cleaning on the intake valves (walnut blasting plus CRC intake cleaner and metal pics). My next step is to remove and clean the fuel injectors. I've got just under 100,000 miles and I'm hoping top get another 100,000. Any other suggested service to keep this A7 running for another 100,000?

My A7 is at 200k miles, bought it at 142k miles. From what I can tell from the service history it looks like it had a carbon cleaning around 105k and a coolant flush around 115K. Nothing special or different from regular oil changes at this point along with routine maintenance. Many say to change the trans and diff fluids around an 80k interval but the previous owner didn’t and I have not either. Still doing fine on the original fluids. Debating on changing fluids this summer though.

definitely change the fluids in the trans and diffs and stick to a 5k oil interval. Other than that I'd respond to issues as they arise. This is a pretty robust drivetrain

As far as the service position are you referring to the air suspension?

I cant thank you enough for this. I have 112k miles on my 2014 A7 and my supercharger tensioner is failing. I am replacing all the tensioners and pulleys and belt while I am at it. Cant get enough clearance without the service lock position. Hope I can figure it out, but meanwhile I'm on my way to Lowe's for those bolts.

Thank you Again!

Good information bronco, thanks!
Does anyone know if this the same procedure for the TDI engine?
