Looks like Audi had one too many claims/complaints of liquids spilling into the holes in the cup holder receptacles; hence the glued-down rubber inserts for 2014. I'll just have to keep using good old duct tape to cover the holes under the inserts in my 2013. At least I can remove the inserts for easier cleaning; (otherwise known as a "trade-off")..
