subtle humming from chassis??

subtle humming from chassis??

this just started with my A7 (7k miles, 2014).

before I go to the dealer (mohegan lake motors, excellent all around) want to see if any of you have had a similar problem.

starting about 60 mph (and it might be there below that muffled by road and tired noise) there is an intermittent hum that comes and goes every twenty seconds or so.

it is not loud, in fact it is subtle. but once sensitized it drives me nuts.

tires? wheel bearings? a belt?

any help would be most welcome.

You diagnoses is bad wheel bearing. Take it to the dealer to get it isolated and replaced. If its not wheel bearing, its a bad tire.

When you hear the hum, weave slightly in your lane. That will change the load on tires and bearings. If the noise does not change, look some where else for the source.

It could be the alternator, air conditioning compressor or some other system that is regulated by the Audi electronics.
