Tire pressure
I purchased my first 2016 A7 this past November and just love the car. Style, speed, handling and comforts have surpassed my expectations. I'm trying to understand how the tire pressure monitor system works. I cannot view psi per tire but let's me know when a tire is low. I have to check all the tires to see which one is low. As well engineered as these cars are with comforts, why can't it display each psi?

It uses a laser sensor at the top and side of wheel well to measure the roling diameter of the tire and hence can detect a low tire pressure base on the rolling speed per certain distance. Its fairly accurate. I usually set my pressure once and measure it every few months if it gets cold and put more air in it and take air out of it in summer. Otherwise i am good. It saves alot of money with TPMS being heavier and costly with new wheel set for winter etc and also saves the hassle of replacing them when battery runs out after 5 years or so. Mines tell me which tire specififcally is low if theres a puncture but if all 4 are low then I just measure and put more air in it if needed.
