Default Transplant Approved...

In my continuing saga, Met Auto & Home, has approved parts and labor of $33,400 today. My service advisor has begun the process of ordering the "long" block from Germany and the Supercharger and other required components located domestically. Assuming all goes well, the car will have it's second delivery in 60 days at the end of May. The service group will test it extensively, reprogram the changes we originally made and detail it again.

As before, my intention is to keep the car, which will be fully warranted by Audi. I've asked them to take pictures of the transplant process which I'll share with you all.

I remember when you were waiting for the car to be delivered. Now you're waiting for it to be repaired. I hope you have a good loaner.

Drop in and get some of your own pictures of the progress.

I've been offered a loaner several times by Braman and we've decided not to take it at least for now. I don't want to inconvenience someone coming in with a real emergency; we have the A5 and will be leaving for an overseas trip on May 19.

Since this occurred last Thursday, I was diagnosed with a basel cell carcinoma which will be operated on when I return. So, no need for a car unless this goes way into June.

You're absolutely correct. Even while watching the water "pool" around me last Thursday afternoon, I kept thinking..."Its only a car".

Besides, I've survived Melanoma and Squamous cell surgery over the last 4 years, so much for five years as a NYC lifeguard back in the day.

First, good luck with your surgery. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Second, good luck with your A6 repairs. I had to deal with a long repair last year...was able to make do as well without a loaner for most of it. Slight difference in mine, the repair was delayed by Hurricane Sandy which left the Audi North America Parts warehouse in New Jersey without power. Had to order the part myself from Audi Dealer in Ontario, Canada, because US Dealers are not allowed to order parts from outside the US when they are in stock in the US (even though the ware house was shut down :P )

Rick, When they are putting the engine back together see if they will let you do some modification also? Maybe an apr ECU instead of an Audi one. Good time to change out the exhaust system, I bet AWE would give you a good deal on there system. Have a good trip and a fast recovery.
