Default Weird Response to Certification

I was at a dealer a few weeks ago, trying to find an A7, and I found one with about 3100 miles on it, a 2013. I asked the dealer if it was certified, and if not, can it be so I can get the warranty.

The dealer came back and told me that they cannot certify cars under 6,000 miles. The guy seemed very genuine, and the car is only about 2 months old (according the car fax) looks very clean, etc.

Anyone heard of this restriction from Audi before??

Untrue. I suspect the vehicle has a tarnished history that would present some liability to Audi. Here's an example of an Audi Certified vehicle for sale with fewer than 6K mi. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1

That's what I was thinking too ... but then again, maybe it is a dealer policy. They are not really willing to budge on the price right now much either. I will circle around in a bit.

Maybe I am being too picky but finding an A7, they way I want it, and not getting ripped off is starting to really stress me out. These dealers in Dallas, are just marking the cars for the new price and wont really come down on price.

I bought my A7 certified pre-owned with 4,000 miles on it.

The dealer wasn't lying.
The vehicle needs to be in service for 4 months or 4000 miles in order to qualify for CPO.

If there was a tarnished history, I know other manufacturers will not sell the car at all. I've seen dodge do this with a viper once. The car looked and drove perfect, but dodge recalled the car and wouldn't even sell it as salvage. It needed to be destroyed. Crazy.

Why people look for CPO cars that are still under original warranty? If something happens during the first 4 years and 50k miles Audi fixes it, I would look for a CPO that the original warranty is about to expire or just expired.

Thanks for this info, I really want to buy this car, but the dealer is asking too much in my opinion.
2013 ... 69,000 sticker .. 3000 miles...
They wont come off 63,000 ish ... which seems a bit much to me ... what is a fair price for it??

Prestige/ Side Assist/ 20" / Bench seat in back/ media plugs
3,500 miles
I offered 60,000 + ttl ...

The invoice on it was about 64,000 and there was a 1500 audi rebate ... so I feel like my price is fair .. anyone have an opinion on it ??

In my case, CPO extended the warranty (miles and years) and the dealer only charged $350 extra for CPO vs. non-CPO on the same car. With the CPO, I'm good for 100,000 miles or 6 years from the original sell date.
