Default Window tinter in tri-state area

Hi,

I am thinking about getting my car windows tinted. I've been doing quite a bit of research for capable tinters in the tri-state area. It appears that the best place is Lorenzo's in the Bronx. Loads of recommendations and awards, but when I asked him how much I should budget he said around $450. That's quite a bit higher than I wanted to spend.

Now, does anybody have good experience with someone else that is a little more reasonable price-wise? I'd prefer a dealer in NY/CT as I want the front driver and passenger window tinted as well and NJ shops are not allowed to do so.

Thanks

What town are you in?

While, yes, in NJ you're not allowed to have any grade of tint on the front windows I have never heard of a shop that wont do it. It is not illegal for them to tint your windows. It is illegal for you to drive with front tinted windows.

Prices range from $100 to $450. You should only be paying $400-450 if it is Huper Optik tint. This is the only true ceramic tint on the market and its very expensive. The look and quality is unmatched. The best feature of it is that unlike other metallic dye based tints, it is not very reflective. It gives your windows a "matte" tinted look as opposed to a "shiny/glossy" look.

Huper aside, there are other "quality" tints such as 3M, Llumar, etc. These run in the $200-350 range for a full sedan. They dont hold a candle to Huper, however, they offer better visibility from the inside>out which is noticable at night.

Cheaper quality tints will run in the $100-150 range. If you're going darker than 35% these can have very poor visibility at night and also arent as color stable, meaning they can start to change color (3-5yrs of constant sun exposure).
