Windshield nicks....

Windshield nicks....
Has anyone else noticed an abnormal amount of very small nicks in their windshield? I live in the city, thus I don't do a lot driving on gravel roads - although I do frequent the expressway.

I have a 2011 A8 and I've noticed the same effect. In fact, a previous A6 was worse. I had a glass polishing company remove a large scratch and multiple nicks from unknown sources. It took a half hour, cost $100 but the results were excellent. Not done yet on the A8; I'll wait until it's worse. I've been told by a local windshield glass shop that all newer windshields are a "softer glass" whatever that means.

Google soft glass and new cars...you'll see that it's an issue with other makes as well.
