02 a8 trans problems
i purchased this machine 2 months ago before reading the audi pages buyer checklist i have repaired nearly everything in that list timing belt kit water pump power steering pump rear out put seal front rotors calipers control arms pads wheel bearings and changed the trans mission fluid and filter with audi fluid assuming after all this the car would be reliable the trans makes a squealing noise from 1st to 2nd to 3rd regardless of operating temp the trans feels that it shutters with weight in the car four adults frankly this is scaring me to death that the trans is failing also the down shift to 1st seems abrubt sometimes can anyone help with some kind advice on the trans and whether to get out of this situation i love the car but the repairs are crippling me please help thanks

Sorry, just noticed the year is in your post heading. Guess I'll have to enroll in
remedial reading (or just back off a bit on the merlot). But srsly, that's a pisser, especially on a later D2. Did you already check the trans fluid level?
There is also some tube end that needs to be trimmed sometimes when the trans filter is replaced. IIRC, the symptoms were similar to what you're describing. I'm sure someone here can elaborate more on that problem. Good luck.

Do not drive the car! You have a wrong filter in the tranny.
There are 3 kinds of filter available for the A8. You have the pre-facelift filter (long tube). You need to remove the tranny pan and cut off 1/2" of the filter pickup pipe.
