A8 cold start problem
About 6 months ago my A8 (1988) began making a whining noise when it first started and disappeared in 2-3 miniutes. The colder it got the louder and longer the noise. The rest of the day it performed quietly. We have tried to pin point where its coming from but it disappears before we can locate it. We removed the belt to disengage the pumps but we could still detect it. We also did a tranny service replacing all the fluid but that didn't work. It seems to be getting progressively worse. I dread taking it to the dealer because I think I'd end up paying their dreadful prices w/o it being solved. Please help!

Did you change the tranny filter? Or just the fluid?
You marked your post as off topic, so you might want to edit it and then go to the bottom of the page and uncheck off topic.
If you didn't change the filter, that's your problem. If you did, then it's most likely not the tranny.
