abs sensor

OK I got my vag FINALLY!!!!!!!!!. calls that the left abs sensor is opn/short. that is the reason for my abs and brake light on. I replaced the back rotors this weekend. I am going to try to fix the abs sensor first. has anyone tried too?? I am going to cut out the wire close to both ends of the plug and sesnor and replace with a new wire. Hope this works. also thanks to paul pulling my codes a few weeks ago I still have that check eng light. I am going to go through and test all the things bently suggest. thanks guys..

How do you know it's the wire and not the sensor or connector?

If there's no visible damage to a wire, isn't it probably okay?
Aren't connectors or sensors more likely to give trouble?
Do the contacts in the plug and sensor look shiny and clean?
Did you check the sensor resistance as per the Bentley? (And do any other tests recommended therein?)
What happens if you swap sensors side-to-side?

Rewiring that will be subject to road spray must be done to a very high standard, so you may want to rule out the other stuff if you haven't already.

well to comfirm when I move the wire I trip the light.. the sensor is fine. the wire has a open about 6 inch up from the sensor.. I am cutting it now and so far so good.

ok all fixed. the insulation on the abs sensor is rather thick. but the wire on the inside have very thin insulation on them. they are also very thin.. maybe 22 gauge.. But I did the repair and everything works like it should and best of all my brake and abs light are now off... next mission is the check engine light. After that is fixed then the tranny flush and then on to fun things.. I have to say that vag is very helpful.
