ABS sensor fix presents new problem
Cheers,
Craig
I would pull the codes to ensure you have the correct wheel (there should be a stored code), or if you don't have the ross-tech software, just pull the senosr, wipe it off, and reinsert it.
This is exactly the same prolem I've had before with my old 91 200q, and EscapA8 just had it on his A8, we fixed it last weekend. He's had this problem for months (actually on and off for almost a year). An indepedent replaced a sensor, but it still kept coming on. The independent suggested that the car be brought to the dealer.
We pulled the codes, here's what he had:
3 Faults Found:
00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Rear Right (G44)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent
00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Front Right (G45)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent
00283 - Front Left ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G47)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent
You are probably just getting an intermittent signal.
He pulled each wheel off, pulled the sensor, wiped it down (it had a very small amount of foreign material on the end), reinserted and no problems anymore! I provided moral support.
Cost - $ about an hour of his time.

I cleaned the sensors and the hole they go into with DW40. Problem gone.
Thanks for feedback...right now all this A8 needs is the timing belt and she'll be set until the next glitch.
Craig
