Acceleration problem
Please help any ideas welcome, my 2006 A8 3 litre auto has a problem when I try to increse the speed the car doesnt repond and accelerates only slowly and doesnt respond to kick down either although the revs will pick. Strangely I can turn car off and on again and then it is alright. Thought it may be turbo but thats ok. Any ideas before i get stung by dealership !

You might also post in the D3 forum to reach more owners of your particular year car.
I've heard some auto parts stores do not like to scan codes these days, though I have not checked. In the USA you can get a bluetooth OBD2 interface to read and clear codes using a smartphone or tablet for $5-$15, the cheaper price is straight from China but that takes 3 weeks. You could also see if anyone in your area with a VW/Audi/Skoda/etc. has VCDS software and a laptop and can scan your car for you but honestly you have an old Audi and owning your own code reader is pretty much mandatory. You might want a VCDS hookup at some point though.
Sounds like your problem is the throttle body to me but I do not know much about the 3.0 TDi (?) *edit* here is a vid on that, if you have that issue/code.
