Default Alternative x-pipe position

Please excuse me for posting to another forum but I can't work out how to post multiple pictures here.

You may remember my quad exhaust post. I wonder if any of you would like to comment on an alternative idea I have here.

Default You learn something new every day.

Picturers hosted by the site can't be seen without registration. not very clever. I will re-host them elsewhere when I get home.

Default I was under the impression that the x-pipe should go exactly where your h-pipe is.

I believe there is a reason for that placement.
Your x-pipe in other words should replace your h-pipe.

Default If you can, try to avoid relocating the crossover.

Moving the X-pipe would be like changing the length of a collector (or length of a secondary) in a performance exhaust system. Google "exhaust tuning" for more information than you'd want, but in general ...

1. Moving the X-pipe forward would raise engine torque at higher RPM's.

2. Moving the X-pipe rearward would raise engine torque at lower RPM's.

I've modeled the S8 motor and exhaust with Performance Trends' Engine Analyzer Pro; but unfortunately, it's installed on an older computer, and I haven't yet migrated it to the computer I'm using now. :-(

It was this article here that got me thinking. 50" secondarys!
