armrest woes

armrest woes
an old topic, I know, but thought I'd ask anyway.
made the mistake of letting wifey drive the car. she managed to break the armrest by forcing it up w/o pressing the button. My mechanic already tried welding & gluing it back together w/o luck.
Shokan wants $400 for an entire assembly, which seemed unreasonable until Clair Audi said they wanted $620 for <i>just the left armrest</i>. There was only one thing listed on German EBay, but the seller said he wouldn't ship to the U.S.
seems I'm stuck, or soon to be out $400. ideas?

i broke mine a few weeks ago and here's how i fixed it.
my dad took an eye bolt and screwed it into the remaining metal in the broken armrest and adjusted the angle so it matched the pass. side Armrest. Then he made a small aluminum shim and wedged it in place to get them level, then just shoved the bolt back thru an put it all back together. Works just fine. Its a little bit uneven but hey, it sure beats the $350-$650 for a new armrest or a pair. if you have anymore specific questions drop me a line.
