Default Audi comes home today

OK, not really the way I wanted! Wife was driving about 10 miles from home and it began to die. She pulled off and it ran roughly for a few moments and died. Then she re-started it 10 minutes later and drove another few hundred feet. It will start and barely idle for a few seconds. Can't pull codes yet b/c she left our only laptop with a serial port at work this weekend. Any thoughts?

sounds like the fuel pump if you're positive it has gas (meaning sending unit not stuck- false read)

Default Fuel pump.

Bad engine speed sensor. It could be a lot of things. I always keep a generic code reader in the car. They are like $50 and could save you a tow if you can find the problem on the spot.

Default ^^^Fuel Pump-- Likely Cause^^^

MIne failed just like this... pump can get a little bit of pressure to the rail, but not enough to sustain it.

Default Haben sie ein Bier!

Actually, in this bastardized web context, I think I was using it as an adjective, which Webster says is an appropriate usage of "likely". ("Likely" thus modifying the noun "cause".) Nary an adverb on the scene.

At the risk of becoming overly pedantic, though, I won't drag out my well-worn copy of Strunk & White. How about if we both have a Stella and call it a night?

Auf wiedersehn,
TT
