Check engine light update!
First off thanks Paul W for the insight on the sec air flow too low code, local shop replaced vacuum hoses ($195) I was also having a throttle problem engine would rev when my foot was on the brake and while driving, local shop replaced pins on ends of throttle cables ($225) still had the problem though, the error code is 16989 (p0605)Internal Control Module Read Only (ROM) error, I've searched the forums and couldn't find anything on this code, local shop is recommending replacing the ECM ($1,100) my question is does anyone have experience with this error code or similar problems? I don't mind paying for the repair but I'm leary of whether it will fix the problem.

Isn't the 2000 A8 throttle drive-by-wire? I would suspect either the encoder on the gas pedal....
or the drive system on the throttle body before I would suspect the ECU. The error code does point to the ECU, but if you clear the code does it come right back?
