chip question
also looking forward into transmission chips at motodyne they claim 1 second off 1/4mile times,
thanks , ben
Based on This Software, a chip that increases HP 10% will reduce 1/4 mile times of an A8 by 0.6 sec. I doubt that any chip alone can increase HP by 10%, and I don't think I could feel a 0.6 second reduction in 1/4 mile time.
Also, I strongly recommend doing an Audiworld search on Motodyne before placing an order.
Out of all the A8's here, nobody has ONE piece from Motodyne....if they were such a big tuner, they would have at least one sucsess story.
Worth every penny, but IMHO 1 second off 1/4 time is stretching things a bit no matter who the tuner is that provides a tranny chip product.
And, I recommend learning how to use the RevoTechniks ... um ... lemmiwinks software before buying any chip. I forget, however, if it works for your model year.
A 4.2 with increased ignition advance and a ton of idle torque offset is fun if you have access to high-octane gas and can keep the engine from pinging like a rattlesnake. I guess I should also recommend that you'll also need to use Vag-Com to log and make sure it ain't detonating badly ... I'll end by saying I'm going to buy 100 octane tomorrow.
I was also interested in Motodyne's products, but because of their long problem history, I wanted to see their product perform before committing $$$. In a 2002 phone call with Motodyne, I personally suggested that they just bring one of their A8/S8's to any Audi Club track event. A Motodyne supercharged A8 on track at Mid-Ohio would put a permanent end to charges of vaporware, but no interest. As far as I'm concerned, the ball's been in their court for a long time.

Motodyne at MidOhio
