Cold Start problem
Here in Houston, I've noticed on mornings where the temp gets to 50 F (brr..) and more recently when starting up at night that the engine will crank and it will catch almost immediately, get to ~1300 rpm and then immediately the engine cuts out, as if the ignition had been turned off. eventually it will hold, but this morning it took 22 tries (my poor battery)
should I focus on the ignition switch?

facelift or pre facelift car?
Does it catch and then die when the ignition switch is placed to "run" from "start", if so, it could be the immobilizer if you have a facelift car....
Or it could be the ignition switch if you have a pre facelift car.

I would try pulling the instrument cluster first, unplug the connections and plug them back in again
It could be a bad connection back there. And for safety's sake, remove the top cover on the steering column, it's two screws that come up from the lower cover.
