Driver Side Head (rest) Restraint
That worked for me as the two rods slide without resistance once again.
I did both seats that way.
- Take the headrests out completely.
- Then degrease the rods (brake-cleaner does a great job).
- Then spray the teflon lubricant-spray on a cloth and rub the cloth over the rods to lubricate them from top till bottom.
- Shove the headrests back in and test.
The motors don't have a hard time anymore pushing the headrest up and gravity makes sure that the smooth sliding headrest goes down again :-)
Works like a charm.
Trying to switch my wife over from a 535xi to a new Q5 after she was rear ended (hold the comments) and hit in the back of the head with the active headrest system. The wack in the back of the head was far worse than the accident itself - it's overkill in her car - and this has happened TWICE in years ! However, for the life of me I cannot find anything on the Audi website regarding whether or not the headrests are passive (a la Volvo) or active (as in the BMW whack you in the head).
If anyone can point me to something that can confirm the performance of the headrests of the 2020 Q5 that would be great.
thx!!!
