Default Gearbox issues

Hi guys, I'm posting on behalf of a another Tyresmoke member who has just suffered gearbox problems

He said he had been driving quite hard, had a thermostat warning come up on the dashboard, then when he stopped the gearbox went into limp mode (all lights on) and his catalytic convertor light came on.

He has pulled the following three codes:

1) 17114
2) 18157
3) 17087

Any suggestions?

The car is a 1997 4.2, 5 Speed Auto with 133,000 miles on it.

17114 P0730 Gear Incorrect Ratio
18157 P1749 Transm.Contr.Unit Incorrect Coded
17087 P0703 Torque Converter/Brake Switch B Circ Malfunction

a quick search on these brings up multiple issues similar to your friends:<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/130240.phtml">best of luck to you</a></li></ul>

My car (98) went into limp mode 2 weeks ago, after having the tranny rebuilt only 3 months ago by a local shop ($5000). It's still at the shop, as soon as I get it back I will get rid of it.
